Hello! We’re here! We made it from Davis, California to our new home in Boulder, Colorado! We did the drive in two days, so the days were long! Our distance covered came in around 1,300 miles. We’re just getting settled in Boulder, and then we’ll be visiting my nearby family and fooling around for the next couple of weeks, but here’s a photo summary of our trip:
Yes, there were three of us in the cab of our truck! Lance {our canine co-pilot} enjoyed his promotion to the front seat and passed the hours staring wistfully out of the front window. We also towed our car to save on gas and so that we could share the driving. It worked out great, but I found it somewhat nerve-wracking to drive with the trailer. There were no big problems or any accidents, but let me just say that I was very happy to return the truck yesterday, and I have absolutely zero plans on becoming a truck driver.
Since our entire trip was viewed through the front window of our truck, we snapped this dashboard scenery series along the way.
Did you see that snowy second picture?! That was the worst weather we encountered the whole time, and it was before we even left California. It was the morning of the first day, and we were concerned we wouldn’t be able to go over the Sierras (via Donner Pass) because of chain regulations. Luckily the snow wasn’t really sticking, and we were able to get on with our trip. The precipitation continued for most of the first day, but there were lots of sunny skies the whole second. By the time we arrived in Boulder, we were in t-shirts and marveling at the green and summery weather.
Well, that’s all for now! I will surely be back {maybe next week} with pictures from around our new home. Have a great week!
Yay you arrived safely! Can’t wait to see more of Colorado. Happy unpacking :)
What a great post, so glad you arrived safely. I too am looking forward to seeing some of your Boulder discoveries.
The title of your post is “Drive West” but you actually drove east, right?
Hey, good point Arlete! I think I got a little attached to a catchy blog post title!
