Avoidance Tactics: a blog post about the outdoors as an effort to avoid doing my work

I’m procrastinating—BIG Time. You know when you know you need to get to work on something, but you keep doing everything else possible before you actually get to that work? Well, that’s me this morning—I need to finish up some t-shirt designs so I can get back to screen printing tomorrow, but so far, I have checked my email, visited some blogs, wandered around the house, and even ordered an art print from someone else, and now I’m here writing this blog post—which means, I better get on with it before you kick me into gear and refuse to read anymore as a means of giving me the cold shoulder until I do my work.

So my blog post title says that this post is about the outdoors as well—I went camping and hiking in Desolation Wilderness (California) this past weekend—it was beautiful, and I thought I’d share some pictures:

Morning sun at Camp Cody—my husband was a boy scout, and this is where his troop would go to camp every summer. The camp is technically leased to the boy scouts, but you can also camp there on your own, if you’re in the know. The boy scouts are only there for about two weeks every summer.

My husband Mike, and our dog Lance at Ralston Lake (we started from the Echo Lake trailhead, if you’re interested in visiting this beautiful high mountain lake)

Lance relaxing at Ralston Lake.

So, I suppose this post is ending which means: I will actually need to GET TO WORK! Hope you’re having a lovely season, and able to get outside and enjoy some natural landscapes!

You are not alone this summer. The sky is bright blue and the clouds are plumply gorgeous, the World Cup is on, bits and bobs in the sewing room beckon over ongoing projects, and my shoes call to be organized by style and color. I am practicing avoidance with no shame whatsoever.

I so enjoy your point of view – thank you for sharing!
