Peonies by Mary Oliver: poetry podcast # 17

Hello! I’m here today with a new poetry podcast! I know, it has been quite a while since my last—listen in to see what inspired me to do another, and what I’ve been thinking about these days. This poem is a truly beautiful poem—in visual imagery, and in thoughts about living a wild, beautiful life. Oh, thank you Mary Oliver for living your own very wild, very beautiful life, and telling the tale through your poetry!

Have a listen:

Here’s a link to the poem in written form: “Peonies” by Mary Oliver

Some other things I mention in the podcast:

the book A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
the lovely Kerri from Songs of Light

Nicole, it’s so astonishing to me how you pick out the same lines from her poems as I do. I have to say that the line about hurrying to the garden half dressed really struck me, and the fact that you would think of me when you heard those lines made me feel recognised in the best possible way. It made me well up a little actually. Thank you for so much for sharing your thoughts, they are a comfort as always x
