The Blooming Inside Her

Happy Monday to you!

I finished up this drawing at the end of last week, but didn’t get a chance to share it with you {until now}:

“The Blooming Inside Her,” 6 x 8.5 inches, pen and ink, original available here in my shop. I also have a 5 x 7 inch print version available in this section of my shop.

Some drawings I make are really quite a ride, and this one was definitely that way. I sat down with very little idea of what I was going to draw last Wednesday. Then some ideas of a female form came, with some sort of pattern in it. Three versions later, this drawing is where I arrived, and I am quite surprised and delighted by it. The title came into my head part way through, and then I realized that without intending to, I had come up with a nice drawing for Mother’s Day (and beyond).

I like the idea that we are always blooming—there are always more possibilities opening up inside of us—this is one of the great wonders in life! I think this would be a great gift for any lovely woman who continues to follow her path and let new things bloom, or really as a reminder to your own brain and heart that anything is possible if you let it be!

This drawing has also been included in a great gift guide organized by the Artisan Gallery Team on Etsy, of which I’m a part of—check it out here—lots of great gifts for any mom in your life (and really anybody)! Thanks for including me ladies!

On another holiday-ish note, I’m participating in a giveaway at Indie Fixx in honor of Earth Day! Check it out, and enter to win some really fantastic prizes, including your choice of two of my Natural Patterns Alphabet prints!

Yay for holidays!
