“Sea,” 4 x 4 inches, pen and ink, available in my shop
Just wanted to tell you that I’ll be away at the coast for a long weekend, and back on the blog on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to relaxing and taking in the blue open wide blowing sea. This means I will be taking the week off from the Inspiration Digest post that usually appears on Sundays, so I can most fully soak up the sun.
I’ve posted the above drawing here before, but I love it, and thought I would share it again. It’s good to love your own work. I feel a little narcissistic saying it, but if I don’t love it, then why make it? This is definitely one of those drawings that I look back on and wonder, where did that come from? It’s just exactly as I would have wanted it, but I didn’t even know it at the time. Art is amazing that way! It kind of takes over and sometimes gets from you something you didn’t even know you had.
The simple design is always the hardest to pull off and you really pull it off. I also think the “sea” is the best. Just thought I’d say so.
much agreed (with above comment) as well as with loving your own work. it’s too bad it’s always been ingrained in us that loving your own is a narcissistic thing — good to hear someone claiming it loud and proud. :) enjoy the weekend!
i love your sea picture, it has a lovely sense of movement.
Thanks
Thanks for the comments everyone–I”m so glad you enjoy this drawing!
