Art Collecting

One day I dream of having walls full of wonderful art, but in my current income bracket I can only afford a small and slowly acquired collection. Lucky for me (and all of us) there is Etsy and digital printing to give our art collections a little nudge with amazingly affordable options. Even so, I try to keep my spending under control, so mainly I look and I gasp and I heart all of my favorite shops for the future day when I have too much money to know what to do with.

But every once in a while, I just can’t help myself—an artist or a piece of artwork will stay in my brain for several days, and I must buy it. This time around it was Iris Schwarz from Zurich, Switzerland. Her drawings have an antique, magical quality that makes my heart happy.

She has a weekly limited addition print series called seven—she only sells seven copies, each at $7. I wanted many, many of these prints, and I’m sure I’ll want many more, but for now I snatched up Astronaut. I am so enchanted with the print—I framed it up in a wonderful thrift store find that couldn’t be more exactly what I was looking for—it was just sitting there for 50 cents—destiny at work!

I just got a new mat cutting thingamajig so I can cut mats at home, and I’m still learning how to use it, so the mat is a little rough but I just had to show it to you. Sunday night, after I framed it, I kept going back to my office and looking at it and smiling!

Thank you Iris!
