This is the view from my desk these days, and I thought I would share it with you because it is so inspiring to me!
In no particular order, there is a little picture of me and my fiance at the Owen’s River Gorge (near Bishop, CA where we used to live) in a frame I got at my cousin’s wedding, a tiny glass bottle my mom got me with a rose I picked near my house, a drawing of a flower by a favorite artist named Summer, and last but not least, a big letter “n” (peeking out from behind) from my friend and creative object conspirator Era.
I suppose I’ve always been a collector of tiny objects (seashells, worry dolls, miniature clogs, and glass animals abound on my window sills—in large part thanks to my mom), and I think it’s important to surround yourself with inspiring things. Often these things will be gifts, or found objects—they need not be expensive. Anyone who trolls thrift stores knows how easy it is to find something special.
While I am trying (and succeeding!) at keeping my desk clean, there’s always room for a rose. So, go forth and inspire yourself with small objects. I give you my permission.
