Strange Creatures

The more time I dedicate to art, the more I realize how many different types of art I like to do. I’ve always loved to draw, and recently I took a drawing class as a way of getting back into traditional drawing. I really enjoyed the class, specifically, I enjoyed how serious my teacher was about it. Even more than realistic drawing, I love to doodle. I hate that word (doodle), but it is the best word the English language seems to have for mindless drawing. When I doodle, I seem to use a lot of geometric shapes and lines. I tend to start out with a small shape and then start building on it. At a certain point I start to see something, and I go with it. Often I come up with some very strange creatures. I started to think that doodling could be considered an art in its own right, or it could at least be considered a showing of how an artist’s brain works when she or he is not trying to go anywhere in particular. Do any of you doodle? What sorts of things do you come up with? Anyway, here are a few of my drawings.

Some Thoughts

"That's the big question, the one the world throws at you every morning. 'Here you are, alive. Would you like to make a comment?'"
